Food for your child

Kids Eating PizzaParents supply all lunches and snacks for their child. We encourage you to provide snacks of reasonable size that have nutritional value and contain variety.

Please check the Canada Food Guide for more information on your child’s nutritional requirements.

Parents must inform the centre if their child has food restrictions due to religion, life style or strong dislike. Any medical information regarding food, i.e. intolerance or allergy must be clearly stated on the registration form.

Your child will be encourged to eat/drink their food, but will not be forced to eat their food. We have them eat half their sandwich during morning snack and the other half at lunch. Your child should be able to eat their food independently.

Please send food in containers marked with their name or initials. Food can be sent by thermos or we can reheat food in your container in a microwave. But please do not expect us to cook the food for you. We have little children to look after and cannot spend that much time in the kitchen preparing food for your child.

A no-garbage lunch is expected. It is a good habit and saves the earth! A no-garbage lunch means no waste from packaging materials that cannot be recycled. All used packaging will be sent home in your child’s lunch kit.

Hand washing is required before consuming snacks/meals and after toileting and play.

  • There are so many words which describe Sheila's incredible talent as a teacher and caregiver. She is loving, enthusiastic, creative, patient and so much more.

Sheila cares for each child individually, she listens and understands each one so well. We have had two boys lucky enough to spend time at Sheila's and they have both learned so much through the monthly theme's, creative activity and play. It is obvious how much time and preparation is put into every day to make learning fun for everyone. She is a master at teaching respect, friendship and fairness to the children.

Thank you Sheila for all you do, we don't know what we'd do without you!

    -- Ward & Nancy Ellis-Winters (Ethan and Zachary's parents)

I can't say enough about my experience with Sheila! She is absolutely wonderful with the children. She's loving, creative, and nurturing. She monitors their behavior carefully and helps them cultivate positive communication skills even as she teaches them the importance of healthy boundaries.

-- Brenda Gerbrandt, whose two children each attended Sheila's daycare for two years
