Clothing & Personal Belongings

Girls Wearing Outdoor ClothesAll of your child’s food containers, clothing such as jackets, boots, and slippers, and personal belongings from home, such as boys or books — basically, anything that could possibly be claimed by another child or parent — needs to have initials or a name clearly marked on them. Magic Markers are in the preschool, so if you don’t have any at home please ask to borrow one.

You child should wear play clothes — in other words, clothing that can be stained, glued, glittered, accidentally cut, etc. Even with art smocks, children can get dirty. It’s in their DNA. Wearing play clothes allows your child to explore and use many different items and materials with less stress and much more enjoyment.

Your child may need a change of clothes in their back pack. If special toileting items are required, parents will provide them each day.

Outside weather conditions require appropriate clothing and footwear. Crocs are NOT permitted for outdoor wear. Sandals and thongs are at the parents own risk. They are not considered safe for running, climbing, or jumping. Your child may injure others by falling on them because of loose footwear and cause a broken bone or knock out a tooth. Runners, boots, and shoes are always best.

Slippers are worn indoors. All parents will provide them. Second-hand ones are great!

Please leave at home any toys or items that are valuable, breakable, expensive, or can’t be shared.

  • There are so many words which describe Sheila's incredible talent as a teacher and caregiver. She is loving, enthusiastic, creative, patient and so much more.

Sheila cares for each child individually, she listens and understands each one so well. We have had two boys lucky enough to spend time at Sheila's and they have both learned so much through the monthly theme's, creative activity and play. It is obvious how much time and preparation is put into every day to make learning fun for everyone. She is a master at teaching respect, friendship and fairness to the children.

Thank you Sheila for all you do, we don't know what we'd do without you!

    -- Ward & Nancy Ellis-Winters (Ethan and Zachary's parents)

I can't say enough about my experience with Sheila! She is absolutely wonderful with the children. She's loving, creative, and nurturing. She monitors their behavior carefully and helps them cultivate positive communication skills even as she teaches them the importance of healthy boundaries.

-- Brenda Gerbrandt, whose two children each attended Sheila's daycare for two years
