Arrivals & Departures

Mom and SonWhen you drop your child off in the morning, it is important that you bring him/her right into the centre before you say goodbye, so the staff can greet your child and get him/her involved in the daily activities. Please exchange a few words with Miss Sheila and share any informatin that could help your child through the day. Feel free to stay (WITHOUT SIBLINGS) and watch. A good transition will help your child get a good start into the program.

Similarly, when picking up your child, please allow Miss Sheila to speak and say goodbye to you and your child.

The centre is forbidden to allow your child to leavev the centre with anyone except:

  • the parent of the child
  • a person authorized by the parent in writing that is on file with the centre, or when the parent has called the centre and given instructions due to unforeseen emergency or incident

No child will be released to a parent no on the release form without contact between the custodial parent and the centre.

The centre will follow all government guidelines and regulations should an incident occur where the adult picking up the child appears intoxicated or suffering the effects of a drug that could put the safety of the child at risk, or appears incapable of providing safe care for that child. The safety of the child will be our first concern and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

As part of enrollment, permission slips are required to be signed by a parent for field trips away from the centre, such as nature walks, trips to the local playground, or to the swimming pool in Sechelt.

One more thing, parents: please don’t forget to sign your child in and out each day.

  • There are so many words which describe Sheila's incredible talent as a teacher and caregiver. She is loving, enthusiastic, creative, patient and so much more.

Sheila cares for each child individually, she listens and understands each one so well. We have had two boys lucky enough to spend time at Sheila's and they have both learned so much through the monthly theme's, creative activity and play. It is obvious how much time and preparation is put into every day to make learning fun for everyone. She is a master at teaching respect, friendship and fairness to the children.

Thank you Sheila for all you do, we don't know what we'd do without you!

    -- Ward & Nancy Ellis-Winters (Ethan and Zachary's parents)

I can't say enough about my experience with Sheila! She is absolutely wonderful with the children. She's loving, creative, and nurturing. She monitors their behavior carefully and helps them cultivate positive communication skills even as she teaches them the importance of healthy boundaries.

-- Brenda Gerbrandt, whose two children each attended Sheila's daycare for two years
