Meet Miss Sheila

meetmisssheila1Cedar Grove Daycare is owned and operated by Sheila Gardener. Sheila has been working as a licenced early childhood educator (E.C.E.) for more than 15 years.

After obtaining her licence from Capilano College in 1994, Sheila worked for two years at Bethel Preschool in Sechelt, and later for the “Open Door” program at the Baptist Church in Gibsons.

In October 2001, Sheila opened her own preschool, West Coast Preschool. Then, in 2008, Sheila expanded her services to include full-time daycare and renamed her business, Cedar Grove Daycare.

… Here’s what parents are saying about Sheila:

“Sheila is the most amazing caregiver you could ever imagine. She is sensible and loving and truly gives her whole heart to the children in her care. Our son loves her deeply and has learned so much from her. He knows how to read and write the entire alphabet and has learned many important social skills as well. Thank you, Sheila! Mary Poppins and SuperNanny have nothing on you!”

– Erin Whalen, mother of Milo, 4 years old.

  • There are so many words which describe Sheila's incredible talent as a teacher and caregiver. She is loving, enthusiastic, creative, patient and so much more.

Sheila cares for each child individually, she listens and understands each one so well. We have had two boys lucky enough to spend time at Sheila's and they have both learned so much through the monthly theme's, creative activity and play. It is obvious how much time and preparation is put into every day to make learning fun for everyone. She is a master at teaching respect, friendship and fairness to the children.

Thank you Sheila for all you do, we don't know what we'd do without you!

    -- Ward & Nancy Ellis-Winters (Ethan and Zachary's parents)

I can't say enough about my experience with Sheila! She is absolutely wonderful with the children. She's loving, creative, and nurturing. She monitors their behavior carefully and helps them cultivate positive communication skills even as she teaches them the importance of healthy boundaries.

-- Brenda Gerbrandt, whose two children each attended Sheila's daycare for two years
