About Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove is a fully licenced group daycare offering all-day care for children 2.5 – 6 years old (up until they enter grade one).

At Cedar Grove Group Daycare, your child will enjoy fun and educational preschool instruction as well as loads of unstructured play time in which to explore creatively and develop better social skills. We offer small classes (maximum 8 students) so that all children get the attention they need and thrive on.

Preschool Program

Our morning preschool program is based on different monthly “themes” that encourage children learn more about the world around them. Themes are based on seasons and holidays as well as other topics that appeal to preschoolers, such as dinosaurs. To learn more about our monthly learning themes, please click here.

Our program includes art, crafts, painting, science, play dough, puzzles, books, blocks, dramatic play, water and sand play, an “imagination station” and open-art shelves.

We also offer a daily “circle time,” an interactive learning activity that can include sign language, finger-puppet plays, stories, music and movement, singing, and some letter or number work.

Outdoor Play

Our outdoor play area is large and allows for lots of opportunities to learn and have fun. Children are encouraged to run, climb, swing, slide, dig, play in the sand with trucks and diggers, play T-ball, engage in imaginative play in our playhouses, ride tricycles and other rider toys and learn basic gardening skills.

This safe play area includes fences that are above the height required by government licencing and gates that are always double locked.

Field Trips

We  sometimes like to take the children on “field trips” to places such as the playground at Cedar Grove Elementary school (which is just up the street from us within walking distance) as well as places further afield, such as Bonnybrook Beach or the Sechelt Public Pool.

Other Important Info

We are open on Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. That includes all school “Pro-D” days.

Our daycare is fully licenced and run by certified Early Childhood Educator, Sheila Gardener.

We do not provide lunches to the children, so please make sure you pack your own complete with morning and afternoon snacks.
